Liby Dynamites Basketball Club has its roots in Kilsaran National School where basketball was first started by Mr Terry Doherty in the late 1970s.
Terry came to the school as a young teacher and started a football team with the boys and a basketball team with the girls.
Many of those young players are now the parents of present club members.
Training was held on the outdoor court in the local community centre in the early days and the various teams reigned supreme on primary school leagues for many years.
The club was formed when players left primary school but still wanted to play basketball. Kilsaran Basketball Club had teams playing in a mixture of Dublin League, North East League, community Games and local school leagues ever since.
Terry Doherty fostered a love of the sport in scores of children down through the years and the club is now thriving with juvenile members both boys & girls growing year on year.
Kilsaran Dynamites basketball club was formed in September 2010 when the senior Dundalk ladies club ‘The Dames’ united with the ‘Kilsaran’ juvenile basketball club.
The Dames brought coaching expertise and senior players while Kilsaran brought juvenile players and energy.
The synergy was immediate and the new Kilsaran Dynamites took off.
The new club entered 5 teams in the North East Basketball League in 2010-2011 season

We also started training the future of the club the Dynamite mini’s who range in age from 7 up to 10.
